Moving house

I'd like to try and show you what my apartment looks like now and how it's going to change till December.

I asked two of my friends with professional cameras to drop by every now and then and take pictures of whatever they liked or caught their attention. Since they're both architects and photographers, I wanted to see what they would turn to while visiting a house they've never seen before.

Here's the first batch. There are others on the way, but right now the camera that contains them (and its owner) are visiting Rome, so I won't get them until next week.

This is a grandfather clock that belonged to my great-aunt, who owned this apartment before my grandparents and me. My mother loves it and wants to take it home... It's really nice, but it's bulky and unfortunately doesn't work anymore.

And here is the amazing light source that makes those weird shadows behind it. Apparently this was made by my great-uncle when he was young.

Both of these were brought by my grandmother and her family from Basarabia and my mother thinks they are at least 100 years old. I plan on reconditioning the cupboard and giving it a totally different use. As for the icon, it's going to one of my cousins, in the hope that they won't sell it (they do that sort of thing Sad )

This is the kitchen. We were already working on it when this pic was taken... It looks terrible Laughing

This is part of the living room... That painting almost caused a serious family feud between my mother and her sister, and we're not sure it's over yet, but still, it baffles me... It's only a reproduction after all, however well made.

And this is one of the cutest things I ran into while cleaning around. It's so small and adorable Heart I already talked to my mother to let me keep it.

More as they come. I'm curious how everything will turn out when it's finished. The things I have in mind are quite different.

I always found it weird that they used rugs in the kitchen. I mean they're a pain to clean. But yes, it is 'typical', I guess.

Laura, a question about the kitchen cabinets, the doors on the bottom side are they some kind of light purple?

It seems to have the same color as my kitchen and living room walls and doors, and the darker purple-ish color looks the same as our windows.... Very Happy

During pics:

(warning - it looks like a bombing site Laughing )

Living room, and my huge refrigerator Laughing

What's left of my kitchen:

Hallway and new main door:

The other hallway and an arch I asked the mason to build in place of a door frame. The cave behind it is what's left of the bathroom:

Old storage room which i decided to turn into a dressing, to save up space;

Finally, new floor tiles. I loved the colour and it works wonderfully with the new paint:

I couldn't take a lot of pics, because there was barely any room to move around and I didn't want to get in the way of the workers. Pehaps I'll take more at different other stages. It's still around 2-3 weeks until everything is done. And the whole thing looked a lot worse around Christmas time.

It's empty, because it's new and not yet out of the wrapping. We took all the new kitchen appliance there, because there's nowhere to put them in our current home.

To be honest, I don't remember whether it's a cross or not. The plastic wrapping around it is bubble wrap, so it might distort the image a bit. Anyway, it shall very likely be dubbed the Live Fridge Razz
