Apocalyptica

I noticed we don't have a thread for them.

http://www.apocalyptica.com/

What do you think? Like them, hate them?
I for one think it's one of the most original bands out there. I can't call myself an avid fan, but I've been listening on and off since 2003 and, more recently, a good friend of mine got me more into them.

They've had two or three concerts in Romania so far (I don't know, I didn't go to any) and this friend met them twice backstage. She says they're remarkably nice and very friendly Smile I hope I can go to their next concert too.

Other than that, my favorie songs are Fade To Black and Helden. Oh, and if possible, I prefer the instrumental version to anything. I don't really like the lyrics/singer version.

Were nice and original until their second album.

Not now.

I don't really like their last album that much, but Helden and Grace are really good.
I understand a lot of people found Apocalyptica through their reinterpretation of Metallica, but I personally didn't. Cult was the first album I listened to and the only one I have so far. Still, I hear they're at their best in live concerts, that's why I really want to see them on stage.

The most beautiful instrument on earth is Ed Kowalczyk's soul.

Did you meet them, too?

Oh yes. The thing that amazes me about the Apocalyptica guys is how they manage to hold their cellos so delicately and headbang like crazy at the same time. When I told my friend about that she laughed and then showed me a backstage recording someone made during their collaboration with a Russian Gregorian choire in which they were basically smashing up their cellos. Enthusiastically. It was a bit of a shock for me Laughing Laughing

No I didn't meet them. It wasn't even allowed to take a camera in. All I have are some mobile pics. But they didn't find my recording equipment, haha!
And there was this terrific support act called Lacrimas Profundere, a German gothic band. Don't know why on earth they chose a gothic band but anyway, they rocked.

Their last concert here was this summer at our local equivalent of Wookstock, which takes place in a little camping village by the sea. Apparently there was the same thing about not taking cameras or going backstage, but the band disregarded it and hung out with the fans after the concert. I've seen some very funny pics from that event, including one with Eicca (who's like 2 m tall) holding my friend Iulia (who is 1,50) and they pretty much look like the virgin Mary and baby Jesus in it Laughing Laughing

Seventh Symphony out on August 20 Sheerleader Sheerleader

The tracklist sounds really interesting (well, OK, apart from no. 4, which isn't exactly the most imaginative of titles)

1. At The Gates Of Manala
2. End Of Me
3. Not Strong Enough
4. 2010
5. Through paris In A Sportscar
6. Beautiful
7. Broken Pieces
8. On The Rooftop With Quasimodo
9. Bring Them To light
10. Sacra
11. Rage Of Poseidon
12. The Shadow Of Venus

I've heard 'Sacra' and 'Beautiful' and they are truly excellent tracks. I'm sorry to say though I don't care about 'Half of Me' nearly half as much as I do for those Laughing But I'm very excited for this.

I know it is, I heard it several times Wink It's a good radio tune and good for a first single release, but personally, I'm into Apocalyptica for a completely different sort of music. I didn't like 'I Don't Care' that much either - the only reason I did was because it was based on another (more simphonic) song written by one of the members for a movie soundtrack.

Still doesn't beat his vague Sharon Stone-esque look from a few years ago, but it does come pretty close, considering he's a man approaching mid-thirties.

I still love him, though Twisted Evil

Apocalyptica feat. Gavin Rossdale - End of Me official video premiere: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hGmq4jhIyU

(pretty OK, I thought. They're not exactly known for having stellar videos, but the overall result is nice Smile)
