Really lovely. I think these sort of things are the only ones that are worth making a permanent part of your body. Everything else passes Wink

WHAT? Shocked Hahaha.

Lovely thing Ruud. I was quite surprised because I didn't really expect you to do this, but it's a great symbol and a hell of a lot of love for that little man. Isn't this a place that hurts real bad? (And does it itch yet Laughing)

Sacha, I know you have many tattoos, but have you ever considered that your personal symbolism for one of them could change radically over time? That's what I mean.

Confused Why do people not expect this from me? Even my sis said so, and I really don't understand, I used to have a Nipple piercing too, but I had to remove it after a year and a half Sad

Well yeah, the guy who tattooed me said that this is one of the parts which can be quit painfull, and to me, yeah it wasn't a nice feeling, but now I know that other parts of the body will be less painfull Very Happy hmmmmmm

Now itching yet...

Haha Ruud, the only reason why I dared to say this is 'omdat we in hetzelfde schuitje zitten' (sorry for the Dutch expression guys!). I mean they always look at me like 'huh, does that skinny guy have tats?' and I always have to explain why I chose them, how much it hurted and if I expect to regret them deeply one day when I'm grey and old.

Hijacking this topic a bit, since it's about first tattoos after all (hope you don't mind, Ruud Laughing)

So as I mentioned a few times on Twitter already, I am seriously thinking of getting a tattoo, mostly to mark the fact that I left home and got the chance to come to Finland and do what I've always wanted to do. So I finally figured out what I want.

It's going to be a blue jay, like this one, only in flight:

Two reasons: first, because it's a very adaptable creature, it can live pretty much in any sort of environment and even when it can't build a nest, it will still improvize a comfortable enough shelter.

And secondly, because I recently read that, in Native American (mainly Sioux) folklore, the blue jay stands for using your power conscienciously and without abuse (that's because these birds can have very changing moods - sometimes they are very gentle, sometimes they are aggressive when they need to defend themselves, and sometimes they are real bullies Laughing) And I think this sort of link between power and conscience is essential in my area of studies (politics)

So there we are. Two extremely philosophical reasons.
(And then a silly thing that a friend of mine pointed out when I told him about my idea today: it's blue and white, like Finland's flag. Of course this isn't the reason I'm getting this tattoo, since I had already made up my mind, but I found it a bery funny coincidence)

Also, I'll have the words Omnia mea mecum porto under it, Latin for 'Everything that is mine I carry with me'

Now that I figured it out, I just need to find a tatoo artist who can do a really good job Laughing Laughing

Toronto Blue Jays...great baseball team Laughing

No seriously, those are very interesting and deep thoughs. I like the idea very much, and the Latin line is very special. This will be a perfect thing to show that you are able to spread your wings, fly away, but won't forget who you are and where you come from. I know this sounds cliché but I really mean it. Laughing

No, you don't sound cliché, those are mostly my reasons as well. I'm just glad I figured it out eventually, I was kind of scared I wouldn't be able to think of something meaningful enough, and then I'd have an excuse to chicken out of this whole tattoo thing Rolling Eyes Laughing

I think it is perfect for you dear, and the line underneath it is superb!

Here is a picture of a Blue Jay in flight!

Maybe you can, as an artist, make a flying Blue Jay yourself!

Or you can use the following link to find some beautiful pics!:

American Major League Baseball, but it was a stupid joke. I just always wondered what blue jays were. And now I know.
